The Delhi high court on Friday dismissed a lawsuit filed by actor Juhi Chawla against the setting up of 5G wireless networks across India.
The High Court said that the plaintiffs abused the process of law and imposed a fine of Rs 20 lakhs on them, news agency ANI reported.
Averments in her plaint were vexatious. Plaintiffs have no knowledge of what they were saying in the plaint,” the Court noted. “It appears that the suit was for publicity,” noted the single-judge bench of Justice JR Midha further.
The Court further said that plaintiff Chawla circulated the link of the hearing on social media which created disruption thrice. Delhi Police shall identify the persons and take action against those who created disruption.
The suit said if the telecom industry’s plans for 5G comes to fruition, no person, animal, bird, insect and plant on earth will be able to avoid exposure, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to levels of RF radiation that are 10 to 100 times greater than what exists today. It had urged HC to intervene immediately.
