The Modi Government is looking at taking an common entrance exam for the admission to universities in July- August period during the academic session .
The test is advocated under the National Education Policy and is the key schemes that the Ministry Of Education id pursuing and will be a single entrance test like the JOINT ENTRANCE TEST (JEE) , NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRANCE TEST (NEET) , for admission to non – technical programs at the undergraduate level .
The decision of conducting common entrance test is stuck into the Middle because of the amid rising of Covid-19 cases in India . Ministry Of Education was set to launch the Common Entrance Test with Nine other Schemes mentioned in MEP 2020 in the Month of May.
With the cancellation of CBSE Class 12 Exams last month and decreasing of Covid-19 cases across cities in India, the Ministry to considering conducting of exams in next two months .
Also if students are awarded with grades in class 12th instead of the Marks , Admission to university will entirely based on the basis of entrance test scores instead of giving weightage to Class 12th Marks and rest in dependable on Entrance Test Score .
” The proposal for conducting common entrance exam for all the universities are put to hold because of the pandemic but it will be discussed again with the universities ” , Ministry official said .
