On 9th June, Wednesday in New Delhi Congress Leader Jitin Prasada joined the Bharatiya Janata Party at the BJP headquarters in the Presence of Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.
“I have a three-generation connection with Congress, so I took this important decision after a lot of deliberation. In the last 8-10 years I have felt that if there is one party that is truly national, it is BJP. Other parties are regional but this is a national party. If there is any political party or a leader standing for the interests of the nation today, given the situation that our country is going through, it is BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi”, said Jitin Prasada on the occasion.
Jitin Prasada also said that he felt surrounded by politics in the Congress Party and he wasn’t able to contribute or work for the people anymore. “I thank people in Congress who blessed me all these years but now I’ll work as a dedicated BJP worker.
Jitin Prasada had earlier attended a meeting with Union Home minister Amit Shah at his residence in the presence of Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.
On the Occasion, Piyush Goyal praised Jitin Prasada for his dedication towards helping people and working towards the people’s interest in his constituency even though he is no longer their representative.
Jitin Prasada started as a general secretary in the Indian Youth Congress. He joined the Congress Party in 2001 and was elected as a member of Lok Sabha in 2004 for the first time. He was also a minister at the Centre in the UPA Government. He was a very well known Congress leader in UP, however did not find a place in Congress’s committees formed for the 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
After Jyotiraditya Scindia, another strong Congress Leader has left the Party and joined the BJP party. After joining the party Jitin Prasad added “I have taken this decision with a lot of deliberation keeping in view all the aspects, in the interests of my district, state, and the country and to safeguard interests of the people”.
BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia on JitinPrasada joining BJP said “He is like my younger brother, and I welcome him to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). I congratulate him”.
