For about almost six weeks, there was a strict lockdown going in the national capital Delhi which resulted in slowing down the wave of coronavirus. As per the announcement on Saturday by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi will start the unlocking process on Monday i.e. May 31, 2021by facilitating the limitations on manufacturing units in its industrial areas and construction activities with laborers staying on site.
In the last 24 hours since March 23, there were only 900 cases reported. There were 2,380 recoveries and 122 deaths reported in this duration. Total cases rise to 14, 24,646, death toll stands at 24,073.
Also, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal along with Deputy CM Manish Sisodia inaugurated a drive-in Covid-19 vaccination centre at Chhatrasal Stadium today.
According to Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, the city government will receive 5.5 lakh Covid-19 jabs for beneficiaries in the 18-44 age group from the Centre in June. The deputy chief minister also told about the mismanagement by the central government and how private hospitals were getting vaccines while states were being told that there are no stocks. He also mentioned that there is a need for 1.84crore doses to vaccinate 92lakh people in the age group of 18-44.
CM Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday along with the announcement of the unlocking phase he also said The Delhi government has floated a global expression of interest (EOI) for procurement of COVID-19 vaccine on an urgent basis.
He said “We have done global tender and are hoping that some company comes. Different governments have done global tendering but the results have not been inspiring. If some company approaches us, it will be good. But what I understand is that world over companies want to talk to the Centre for procurement of vaccines,” he told reporters.
