The Southwest Monsoon made an onset over Kerala on Thursday after a delay of two days, the India Meteorological Department stated. The monsoon onset over Kerala marks the graduation of the four-month rainfall season within the nation.
The normal onset date for Southwest Monsoon over Kerala is June1.
The southwest monsoon is one of the primary drivers of the country’s economy, which is largely based on agriculture and its allied activities. Large parts of the country rely on the four-month rainfall season for agriculture and also for filling reservoirs.
As per the weather office, cyclonic circulation also persists over east central Arabian Sea and neighbourhood between 3.1 km and 4.5 km above mean sea level.
