The British heartthrob, Harry Styles, has taken the fashion as well as the music industry by storm in the past couple of years of his solo career. The former boy bander has shown his love for gender-fluid clothing in a lot of events making bold and impressive moves to break gender norms. Styles’ cover for Vogue 2020 became a topic of controversy minutes after its release. Him, being dressed in flowy gowns on the cover page was acclaimed as well as ridiculed. While the first half appreciated him for using this global platform for a noble cause, the other half criticized him for not having been ‘manly’ enough. Nonetheless, the cover served its purpose as it drew the attention of the world towards acceptance.

For over 4 years now, Harry has been constantly sporting nail polish, purses, handbags, makeup, blouses, pearls, jewels and so many more elements that come under gender-bending fashion.
In an interview for ‘The Face’ in 2019, he said, “What’s feminine and what’s masculine, what men are wearing and what women are wearing – it’s like there are no lines anymore,”.
Talking about his inspiration for clothing he said, “I didn’t grow up in a man’s world. I grew up with my mother and sister. But in the last two years, I think I’ve become more satisfied with what I am …. Being vulnerable and allowing myself to be a woman is very masculine. I think, and I make it very comfortable.”, in an interview with actor Timothee Chalamet for iD magazine.
For this generation and forward, Mr Styles, irrespective of having been admirable or provocative, has drawn the attention of the world towards the much-needed topic of gender fluidity and acceptance of all genders in our society.
