Officials indicated on Saturday that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is expected to announce more lockdown relaxations starting next week, citing a drop in the city’s daily COVID-19 case count.
Kejriwal is slated to speak at a news conference later in the day on the efforts being taken to deal with a probable third wave of the coronavirus.
Because the COVID-19 situation is steadily improving, an official indicated the government may allow markets and other operations starting June 7. The government approved the start of a phased unlock procedure for manufacturing and construction in Delhi last week. On April 19, Delhi was put under lockdown.
According to Delhi official data, the city had 523 new COVID-19 cases and 50 deaths on Friday, with a positive rate of 0.68 percent.
