The Prime Minister appreciated the Manpreet-led team for their hard work throughout the game and wished them all the best in the bronze medal match on Thursday.
India lost to Belgium 5-2 in the men’s hockey semi-finals and is now fighting for the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics. After conceding an early goal, India led by 2-1 at the end of the first quarter, but Belgium tied for second. In the fourth quarter, the Indian team lost three goals in the fourth quarter and lost the chance to reach the finals.
Manpreet Singh and Harmanpreet Singh scored a goal for the Indian team, and Alexander Hendrix performed a wonderful hat-trick for the Belgium team. Another semi-final between Australia and Germany will be held today.
