On June 3, NASA will send 128-glow-in-the-dark baby squids and some 500 Water Bears (that is also called tardigrades) to the International Space Station for research purposes. The Water animals are part of the Mission that will be launched abroad space x’s 22 ND Cargo resupply that will help scientists to design improved protective measures for astronauts going on long-duration Time Travel. Another aim of the scientists is to gain a better understanding How beneficial microbes interact with animals in improving human health on Earth. A space Station is for a long period of time. It is like a Large Laboratory in space that allows astronauts to come abroad and stay for weeks or months to carry out their experiments.
Do you know why does Russia wants to leave the International Space Station? Why are the sea animals needed at ISS? The ISS has been in space since 1988 and has been known for the Cooperation between five participating Space agencies that remit; NASA (United States, JAXA (Japan) , Roscosmos (Russia), ESA(Europe), CSA(Canada), NASA, the floating Laboratory has hosted more than 3000 research and Educational investigations from researchers in 108 countries. The Water -bears and Bobtail squid will be involved in experiments in the floating Laboratory, in the frozen state.
These Scientific Studies involves that how the Water Bears tiny animals around (1 mm long) that can adapt to extreme conditions on Earth, including High pressure, temperature, by learning about the living conditions of the Water bears, researchers will get the idea to better design technique for the astronauts healthy on long-duration space Mission.
Also, microbes play a crucial role in the Development of animal tissues and maintaining human health. And this research will clean the understanding of about How beneficial microbes interact with animals when there is a lack of gravity. In the human body, microorganisms contribute to a variety of functions including digestion, detoxifying harmful chemicals, developing the immune system.
As per NASA, this research leads to important breakthroughs on Earth, this would lead to find ways to protect and even enhance the complex relationship between animals and beneficial microbes ensuring better human health. In space, the Findings will help space agencies develop better measures to protect astronauts from host – microbes on long-duration missions.
