This year the theme or International Yoga Day will be “Yoga For Well Being ” . This theme is totally applicable this year because we all are still going through major pandemic that has not only affected our physical health but also mental health too . Yoga is said to have originated thousands of years ago in India .
The word “Yoga” was mentioned in the text of Rigveda , the earliest among Vedas Scholars , Rishis (Sages) of the Vedic Times documented their practices in the Upanishads . Upanishads contain extremely valuable core teachings of Indian Philosophy containing over 200 scriptures .
The idea for an UN-Mandated International Day Of Yoga at first proposed by PM Narendra Modi . During his speech at UN General Assembly (UNGA) in 2014 , Modi Proposal the idea . Modi called Yoga an “invaluable gift of India’s Ancient Tradition” calling for ‘Harmony Between Man and Nature Through Yoga’ .
People are complaining about the mental health , issues such as anxiety and depression . The only solution to overcome all these issue is to do yoga . The United Nations in a statement said : “A growing trend of people around the world embracing yoga to stay healthy and stay rejuvenated to fight social isolation and depression has been witnessed during the pandemic .
Yoga is helping to all the Covid Patients who are alone and stuck into a room of isolation . It is particularly helping in fighting from their fears and anxiety ” . Breathing exercises , Meditation and Relaxation exercises can be very helpful in improving symptoms of the major problems and conditions .
